Inexpensive Nail Polishes

Well since I started reading blogs I developed a bit of a love for nail polishes and nail art, but I am not the kind of person to go out and spend over £10 on a polish, so I usually go for cheap ones unless I see something unique. I prefer to do this because there are so many similar colours in the 'cheap' section to the bigger brand ones which means I can get loads of different colours for barely any money. I went to Superdrug to take advantage of their 3 for 2 offer while it was still on, and bought a load of really cheap polishes just to test out some new colours. I chose:
Beauty UK in Smokey Lilac
2True in Shade 6
2True in Shade 2
2True in Shade 3
NYC in 105 Starry Silver Glitter
Collection 2000 in 25 Buried Treasure (click here for review)

So as you can see I got a few, which all came to about £8! Here they are:

Beauty UK: Smokey Lilac - 3 coats.
2True: Shade 6 - 3 coats.

2True: Shade 3 - 2 coats (LOVE this one!)

More coming soon.

Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle

Well as you may or may or not know, I am having terrible trouble with my nails at the moment. They are horribly short and weak due to me taking my acrylics off in a rush. I read a lot of good reviews about Sally Hansen's Nailgrowth Miracle treatment, so I had to give it a go.

It comes in a really pretty gold bottle and tells you to apply a thin coat every other day. I somehow lost the picture that I took of my nails before I started the process, but I'm only on my 3rd day and have no noticeable growth so this shouldn't affect the before and after difference photos (if it works!).

So day 1 I applied a coat onto each nail, then day 2 I did nothing. Day 3 I removed the first coat and then applied a second coat.
As you can see my nails are very short, so we should hopefully see a good result!
Nail polish in this picture: Collection 2000 Lasting Finish in 25 Buried Treasure. (Click here for review).

Although I haven't notice a significant difference in length, after just two coats I can definitely tell that my nails are much stronger. I will take a new photo after every removal/new coat and upload my progress weekly so you can see the difference. I just hope that it works! Keep checking back to see how my nails are getting on.

Have you used this product? If so, what were your results?

Collection 2000 Nail Polish Review

I just thought I'd do a quick review on this nail polish that I bought a while back, as I was quite impressed with the brush. I bought Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Nail Polish in 25 Buried Treasure. I bought this as I needed a gold polish asap and this was as close as I could find for a decent price.

The colour is a kind of dirty gold with a gorgeous sparkly shimmer, and I actually really like it! To make it even better, it only needed 2 coats which is always handy. Now onto the brush...

Hopefully you can tell that it is thin and flat :)
I have never used a nail polish in this range before, nor have I used a nail polish with a brush like this. It is really wide, so when applying it, it spreads right across your nail. For the small to medium width nails you can do a coat all in one stroke! I found this really good as it just gives a nice finish with no stroke lines.

US cosmetics site

After reading many blogs I was really wanting to try out e.l.f cosmetics (amazingly cheap!) and NYX cosmetics. I came across a US site called Non Pareil Boutique which sold both these brands and many more - much cheaper! For example, NYX Round Lipstick in the UK was £4.95, this site sold it for $2.50 /£1.57! So rather than purchasing off both UK websites and paying for delivery twice I decided to give this US site a go.

What I bought:

Apologies for poor quality

❀ e.l.f. Translucent Matifying Powder
❀ e.l.f. Blush in Fuchsia Fusion
❀ e.l.f. All Over Color Stick in Lilac Petal & Spotlight
❀ e.l.f. Brightening Eye Color in Drama
❀ e.l.f. Eyelid Primer
❀ NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
❀ NYX Round Lipstick in Strawberry Milk, Baby Pink & Opal

All 10 items = $22.40/£14.11
I also found a voucher code offering an extra 10% off which was NEW2011 which may still be active.

What a bargain!

The only downside was that the shipping came to $16, but it still worked out a lot cheaper than if I had bought the products from the UK websites. Delivery to the UK took 17 days which is acceptable for international shipping. The items were packaged very well in order to stop things like eyeshadows and blushers breaking, and I generally found the site very easy to use.

The website has loads of other brands including Stila, Elle, Lancome, Sephora and lots more, although I'm not aware of the price comparison with these brands.

If you would like to look at/purchase these products but don't want to purchase from the US, their UK websites are:

Reviews of these products will be up very soon once I've had chance to test them all out.
